Take Pride  Project continues to do so much for our community and Christy Powers submitted the following article and photos of their latest project

   Volunteers of the Year 2011

On Aug 6 at the Community Center two community members were honored with the title of ‘Volunteer of the Year 2011’. Gila County Supervisor Tommy Cline Martin presented the awards to Frank Howard on behalf of Take Pride Project of Pine Strawberry, and Bob Ayers on behalf of CERCA.

Mr. Howard has donated untold hours at the Pine Elementary School working with the Builders Club, the school athletic program, the Superintendent’s Advisory Committee, the Principal’s Middle School Student Discipline Development Committee as well as serving as a Boy Scout leader and mentoring Eagle Scout candidates.

Mr. Ayers has donated his time this past year, both day and night keeping the Community Center in operational condition. In the past he was a paid employee but was unable to continue drawing a salary so he has been working without pay, while still spending some of his own money to pay a portion of the cost of the operation of the Center.

Bob Ayers was also presented with a plaque by Melvin Palmer, President of CERCA for his long time service and dedication to the organization.

The Pine Strawberry Community is fortunate to have people of this caliber living here and we are proud to know them as friend and neighbor.

When you see Bob or Frank, shake their hand and express how proud and thankful you are of them.
