About Us

Founded in 1994 by just five local ladies who loved sewing, the organization has continued to grow and now boasts over 35 members. They have a large fundraiser each year by raffling off a special handmade quilt they call the Opportunity Quilt. This allows them to donate back to the community about $4000 each year. When asked if they keep track of the numerous volunteer hours each quilt requires, the answer was, "We don't really have time to track it." Obviously there are hundreds of hours spent by these wonderful ladies creating 'Comfort Quilts' for those who suffer, stockings for families at Christmas and various other loving items.

Dixie O'Hara, the only Charter member of the Patchers still involved says she loves it and will be making quilts until they carry her out feet first.

Even though it looks like a lot of work to the casual observer, these ladies really love what they do, and have a lot of fun at it.

Their website has a lot of photos of their activities and quilts, check it out.

The Strawberry patchers are very busy as you can see by looking at their calendar. They do welcome new people, sew, if you think you might want to be kept in stitches while doing a lot of good for the town, contact them and stop in for a visit some day soon.
