New FireWise Trailer. Using Federal Grant monies, the Fuel Reduction Committee has purchased a box trailer to use in education of property owners on how to make your home more resistant to wildfire.
You can see more photos of this trailer and follow the progress of it's implementation on their website;

The Fuels Reduction Board meets on the last Wednesday of the each month @ 6:00 PM at the Seniors Dining Hall in the Community Center.
There are a few citizens who are still not filling out the paperwork for the fire dept crews to pickup the brushpiles. Everyone needs to do this so the grant money will continue to pay for the project. You can pick up the form at either fire station or download it here.
Save Our Town!
You can now get involved in protecting Pine and Strawberry and your own property from the possibility of destruction by wildfire.
Volunteers are needed for a few hours within the next month to help spread grass seed in the firebreak around the community.
I took the opportunity to help with the seeding on Sat Nov. 21 and found it to be a rewarding and pleasant experience. I have wanted to help out sooner but had let other considerations take precedent. The people that are doing this are wonderful members of our community; they realize how important it is to create a defensible space around our homes and are willing to give of their time to make it happen. It is rugged and somewhat tiring, but anyone with moderately good health can be involved. I encourage you to look into it, it'll do your heart and soul good.
Check out the
photo gallery I have placed on a separate page, then contact one of the team leaders to find out the schedule of the next seeding event. Don't wait too long, the weather now is gorgeous but will be changing soon.

FUELS ROUTE
For brush pickup please place branches, small rounds (nothing longer than 8 feet in length & larger than 6 inches in diameter), pine needles and bags of leaves beside the road. Leaves and pine cones must be bagged, needles can be piled. Please do not put trash, garbage or lumber with your brush. Due to time constraints we are not able to sort these items from your brush and will not make the pickup from your property. This service is for residential property owners only. We do not haul for commercial tree trimmers and landscapers.
Please fill out the “Community Worksheet” and send it in to the P/S Fire Dept. It is an integral part of the government grant that is sponsoring the Fuels Reduction program. The department gets $5 per man hour that is spent clearing your lot. Please attach a copy of any receipt for monies spent on the clearing of your lot. The department gets 50 % of all receipts.
We also use the RPAP pit on the Control Road (follow the signs) for those that don’t want to leave their brush beside the road. It is open Sundays at 8:00 am and is free.
Click here for the community work sheet.
Thank you for your patience as we try to get to everyone in a timely fashion.
PLEASE REFER TO THE FOLLOWING SCHEDULE (SEE ZONE MAP)
The fuels route is divided into 8 zones. Four in Pine and four in
Strawberry. We will clear each zone completely before moving on to the next zone.

The Fuels Reduction Inc. is not responsible for the operational function of the brush pick up program. That function is under the control of the fire department.
