The Pine Deli
Mike and Debbie Kroll, owners of Pine Deli, spent about five years as part-time residents in Pine, dividing work time in the Valley in the food and beverage industry, and play time at their home here.
Wanting to spend their time here relaxing and enjoying the area ( "We're porch people", says Mike) as opposed to preparing meals or sitting in a restaurant, they realized there was a need for a place to pick up a fresh roasted chicken or some homemade soup to bring home.
As it became more difficult to head back to the Valley each week, the Pine Deli was born, opening in the Fall of 2004. Like many of us, Debbie and Mike are here for the small town atmosphere, the clean air, and the seasons. They not only enjoy the "locals", but also those regulars from the Valley, who have become friends.
So take a stroll down to the Pine Deli and eat-in, or take a drive down and bring it home!
Pine Deli is located at 6240 Hardscrabble Road and two blocks off Highway 87.

Debbie says; "Our hours are 11am-8pm Tuesday- Saturday, 11am-6pm, Sunday. We're Cooking!!"

The Yarn Shop

Pine-Strawberry now has its own vibrant and cozy yarn shop! Rim Country’s new knitting store, The Pine Yarn Shop, is open for business. “One day, I awoke with an impulse to start a yarn shop in Pine,” says owner and knitter Maureen Garlausky, “it’s now a dream made real. “ For the past year, Maureen had been selling quality yarns, patterns and knitting and crocheting accessories at Pine Country Antiques. Business growth and the popularity of knitting prompted the relocation of her wares to a larger location on Hwy 87 at the north end of Pine just across the highway from the antiques store.
“The response and excitement from the community have been very encouraging,” Maureen notes, “Pine, Strawberry and Payson knitters and weavers are thrilled with the convenience of having local access to quality yarns, knitting and crocheting supplies. They can feel the texture, the thickness and the softness of the yarns, they can see the precise color tones they are trying to match and they can get what they want at the moment they want it – these are services the internet cannot provide!”
The Pine Yarn Shop carries luminous assortments of merino wool, alpaca, organic cotton, wool sock yarn, bamboo, acrylic and blended yarns for any project from caps to socks! The store stocks spinning fibers and is a Louet spinning wheel dealer. Patterns, magazines, buttons, crochet hooks and knitting needles of every size are available. The charming atmosphere in this turn-of-the-century building inspires creativity.
Area knitters meet at the shop each Thursday evening, from 5-7 PM to knit, sip tea, and share “a good yarn.” Knitters and crochet enthusiasts at any level are welcome to join in the fun! Maureen is blessed to have accomplished knitter, Lora Hart, of Payson, to assist with workshops and instruction ranging from beginner levels to experienced knitters. A children’s knitting class is planned for February and sock, sweater and beginners scarf classes are scheduled for March. Call 928.476.4710 for more information. Visions Speaking Rock Shop & Emporium is located in the Old Settlers Village ( # 19 on the map of the walking tour of Pine).

We started our business in one of the smaller buildings 6 years ago as a combination Rock Shop and Jewelry Store with Native American crafts. This last fall we moved to the large building on the north end of the property and expanded to include a multi-dealer antique and gift mall.
You will find fossils from the Rim area surrounding Pine and interesting stones from around the world mixed with the nostalgia of antiques and collectibles.
Our Native American Craftsman
Dana is Pima Indian and he works in an old style to design leather pouches from ancient designs he has researched in museums. Every pouch is designed, hand sewn & beaded by Dana. He says he makes each piece as if he were making it for himself.
He also does lapidary work and in the summer months you will see him outside demonstrating the making of stone beads on a grinding wheel.
Our Jewelry Designer
Bobbie has been designing and making jewelry for close to 20 years. She specializes in wire wrap technique to show off the stones to their best advantage.
She also goes to Estate Sales looking for treasures – The store has a mix of old and new….you never know what you will find!
Plan to stop by the 'Old Settlers Village' and visit us....take a few photos of the old buildings and enjoy our mountain hospitality.
We are open 7 days a week from 10 am – 5 pm.

Where Shopping is Always Fun!
Welcome to
Moose Mountain Gifts and Moose Mart Antique Mall.
We are located at 6264 Hardscrabble Road, Pine, AZ. We are open 7 days a week. Our Hours are Monday thru Thursday 10AM to 4PM. Friday and Saturday are 10AM to 5PM and Sunday is 11AM to 4PM. We accept MC/VISA, American Express and Discover.
March of 2009 will start our 11th year in Business in Pine, AZ. Of course that could have never happened without our wonderful customers who keep coming back and sending their friends and family in to shop. I knew when I opened the store that we would always have business from the weekenders, but I wanted it to be a place where the local customers would be able to run in and pick up a gift and card instead of running to Payson. I know we accomplished it and in the meantime made it a place where the weekenders could stop and shop, say hi and bring their family and friends.
I love the idea that we have helped decorate so many of the weekend and full time homes in the area. In todays economic times, I think people are looking for a way to decorate and make their homes beautiful without spending a fortune. I suggest to people, all the time, make sure you check the shop for tables, end tables, lamps and decorative pieces. We have furniture that has been gently used, in beautiful condition for a fraction of the cost of new pieces. Our lamps and decorative pieces vary in style. We have something for everyones taste.
This year we will have the Pine Merchants Parking Lot sale on 4/25/09. Mark your calender as it is an event you don't want to miss. The parking lots will be full of the "best deals in town."
November 7, 2009 will be the Pine Merchants Holiday Open House. It is a kick off to our holiday season with customer appreciation gifts, sales, sales, sales and lots of cookies!
Thanks, for making Moose Mountain your favorite place to shop.......Kris Lovetro - email: atmoosemtn@aol.com
Fixed Right Computer Works
Every now and then we get to do business with someone new who impresses us very favorably and when that happens, we want to share it with others.
I had that happen recently when I decided to purchase a refurbished computer from Fixed Right. The owner, Jane Aubry, was very reasonable in her price, very knowledgable, helpful and courteous in assisting me with understanding the system and all it's peripherals. She is has been in the computer business for many years and has plenty of expertise.
In short, I was very pleased with the transaction, glad that I chose her company with which to spend my money, and am comfortable in recommending her to anybody who needs computer service.
Jane and her husband Roger really love Pine and have a cabin here that they recently reworked to make it more modern and attractive. You can contact her at
http://fixedright.tripod.com/ In Her Own Words
My business started a few years ago when I had so many friends that were being misled by “big businesses” overcharging them for PC computer repairs.
I gained extensive knowledge in quality control and testing pc boards and components, having worked several years as a Quality Control Technician for an large electronics firm. This included troubleshooting errors on the boards and components and finding out where the source of the problems originated and correcting it. Through the prompting of many people to put my knowledge into practice, I finally decided to “take on the task” and started repairing some computers - advertising only via word of mouth.
This has resulted from an overwhelming need among customers for honest, dependable, and reasonable computer repairs. My business ethic is to recommend to customers what they could do to upgrade, or not, and also to install programs on their computers at the lowest possible cost. This practice passes on cost saving to the consumer. The “Tune-Up” pricing includes everything to bring a computer back to new condition. I have a “One Price-One Day Service” policy for most jobs which is very handy for customers. The business also includes custom builds and refurbished computers for sale (based on availability.)
Please check out the website http://fixedright.tripod.com/ for details.

BTW - I contacted Jane Aubry due to your feature of her and bought a refurbished lap top from her....and she is going to work on my old lap top. Thanks for putting her info up there! She is a nice lady and very fair in her prices. I also recommend her if you want to add to what you've written about her.

Pine Hardware
The Story of Pine Hardware
Dec 22, 2008
Pine Hardware was an idea of mine since the old Pine Lumber and Hardware closed 4-5 years back. I was nearing retirement and wanted to invest in a business that would be profitable and grow as an asset. Since I knew nothing about hardware why not open a hardware store. Pine/Strawberry needed a store. For part timers like my wife and I, DYI (do-it-yourselfers), handymen, painters and contractors a store that carries 90% of what they need would save time, money and travel.
So here we are. With my partner, Kevin Farnsworth, we began in May of this year to put the store together and opened for business on June 2. Once we made the decision we did not want to miss the summer business.
A word about Kevin, working for Orgill our primary supplier he is the perfect partner. He sells hardware and he knows all of its application and is expert at merchandising a hardware store. We made a good team from the very start.
For whatever reason we were blessed with our first employee, David Prechtel. We were very fortunate to hire David. David, a resident of Pine, knows hardware and it’s applications and is first class at customer service. Those who have been to the store know how valuable David is, not only to the store but also to the community.
Duane Harmon of Pine was next to join the store. Duane has moved on to other things but his help during startup was a perfect compliment to David. Duane knew hardware and it’s applications and worked so well with all of our customers. Thanks Duane.
In July we were again fortunate to add John Koller of Phoenix. How many of you know Koller Hardware on the corner of 16th St. and Bethany Home Rd in Phx? That’s John, sold the store in June and joined us in July. Another giant plus for Pine Hardware.
For 2009
We plan to continue balancing our inventory to meet the needs of not only Pine/Strawberry but also the communities of Geronimo Acres, Happy Jack, Long Valley, Clint’s Well and other near by rural residences.
We’ll be up with an eCommerce site on the web shortly after the first of the year. This should make things easier in buying and planning jobs. Stand by, more details to follow.
Please stop in to see us. You’ll see that we have nearly all of your hardware needs; plumbing, electrical, hand tools, wood pellets, paint supplies, hot water heaters, etc, along with cutting keys and mixing paint. And also a UPS shipping counter.
Please call David or John for more details at 928.476.4000, go to www.pinehardware.com
or just come by.
Regards,
Paul Johnson
