Traffic switch and paving of the detour - pilot car in operation

ADOT crews will be paving a temporary detour at milepost 264.1 in preparation for excavation of a section of the existing roadway beginning the week of August 2. Paving operations are scheduled from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, August 2. During paving operations, SR 260 will be reduced to one lane. Be prepared to stop and wait for a pilot car. A flagger will hold traffic until a pilot car can guide motorists safely through the route. In addition to pilot cars, message boards and temporary signage will be in place to assist in directing traffic. Crews will apply temporary striping to the detour and at the Control Road on Tuesday, August 3. Once the detour has been paved and striped, traffic will be switched to the temporary construction route to allow crews a safe work zone as the project continues.

Delays can be expected of up to 15 minutes during peak travel hours. Please allow additional time to reach your destination.

The speed limit within the construction zone is reduced to 35 miles per hour and a width restriction of 10 feet remains in place. Please allow extra time to reach your destination.

Information regarding the project is available on the toll-free project hotline at 1-877-521-1118. Weekly construction e-updates are available at prescottdistrictupdates@azdot.gov.

While ADOT strives to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, during any construction project there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Drivers can visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.gov or call 5-1-1 for the most current information about restrictions statewide.
